Host a Werewolf Game Night

How to organize a smooth, memorable Werewolf night with friends — from invites to the final vote.

How to organize a smooth, memorable Werewolf night with friends — from invites to the final vote.

A great Werewolf night is part game, part theater, and part roast. Whether you are hosting for the first time or refining your routine, a little structure goes a long way.

Before the Game

  1. Pick the right group size: 6–9 players is the sweet spot for beginners; 10–12 turns the chaos up.
  2. Choose a mode: Start with 9-player classic, then experiment once everyone knows the roles.
  3. Set expectations: New players should know the basic flow before the first night.
  4. Create the room early: Send the PlayWerewolf room link ahead of time so no one is left waiting.

During the Game

  • Let players read their roles silently before the first night.
  • Keep discussion moving — use the in-game timer to avoid stalls.
  • Encourage new players to speak, even if they are unsure.
  • Remind everyone that lying is part of the fun.

After the Game

Reveal the roles, laugh about the lies, and immediately rematch. The best Werewolf nights always end with “one more game.”
